Salary: $50,000-$82,010 - Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Additional signing bonus of $1,500, payable upon commencement of employment
ROLE SUMMARY
The BCPS District is seeking exceptional, inspired, equity-driven teacher to guide its schools into the next chapter of even greater academic excellence.

Teachers receive robust support and resources from our District to enable student achievement including support with implementing research-based, rigorous curriculum and utilizing assessment data to facilitate instruction.
In addition, there are resources to support teachers. These support resources include:

• Instructional Coaches
• Early Career Teacher Mentors
• Behavioral Interventionist
• Counselors
• Bearcat Coaches (i.e., in-school mentors and intervention practitioners who bear caseloads of students)
• A wide network of community and organizational support, including Healthcare Centers located in our schools

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and maintains long range and daily instructional plans.
2. Develops engaging, student-centered programming
3. Develops healthy self-esteem in students.
4. Ensures that all substitutes have lesson plans.
5. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provides progress reports as required and communicates with parents as deemed necessary. 6. Serves on building and district committees that develop curriculum and enhance instruction.
7. Maintains records for such things as student attendance, evaluations, report cards, discipline records and documents required by the School Board or Board of Education using prescribed formats.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with DI or DX Endorsement
• Documented proof of ability to meet all State and National requirements for teaching secondary science classroom(s).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and cultivate positive relationships with students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated passion for introducing children to the world of scientific discoveries
• Experience teaching in an urban school district
